As an artist, I find that art is everywhere. I work in digital media and photography, and with a camera I'm able to capture a moment in time. I begin a piece by picking an event in time such as a festival or a walk in my local neighborhood. I observe my natural surroundings, and what I see around me becomes my creative inspiration and muse. Through the use of non-linear digital media tools, I’m able to create my own style and aesthetic. Along with these tools, I take a mindfulness approach to my photography, observing my surroundings and accepting the world as it happens around me. I see my work as a therapeutic means to achieve a sense of nirvana: a state of peace and equilibrium.

Since the emergence of new technology such as smartphones and tablets, making art has become both innovative and accessible for me. Using photo apps and their features has added a new arsenal for my creative expression. With this new technology, I incorporate street photography, traditional fine art and digital media processes to make art mobile and on-the-go, without the constraints of an art studio.

My recent work has elements of social justice in order to strengthen communities and improve people’s quality of life. The destigmatization of mental health, education equity and affordable housing are three current issues I’ve been working with and integrating into my artwork. I want people to be educated through my art and learn about the story behind the piece, the struggle and hard work to make the piece, the message it is attempting to convey, and inspiring a call to action.
